What is a modular helmet?

Modular helmets are designed as flip up front side helmets. It means you can flip the front part of the helmet and turn it into an open faced helmet. These helmets are also known as hybrid helmets. You can buy modular helmets from Shark, Sena, Schuberth, Nexx, and ls2. A modular helmet can only cover your head which means this helmet offers you more airflow and visibility than other helmets. As compared to a full face helmet a modular motorcycle helmet doesn´t feel as closed. Mostly, motorbikers choose this helmet when riding in high temperature areas. A modular helmet is a common choice for couriers and delivery people because it helps to communicate face to face with people without taking it off. This helmet is very useful for those moto riders who wear eyeglasses they can easily take off and on their glasses without any hassle.

Important tips to choose

A modular motorcycle helmet is slightly heavier in weight than other helmets. It has wider space because of the flip up. Make sure the modular Flip up Function is working smoothly and the upper shell should be scratchless. The inner liner of the helmet should be soft and made with good quality foam. Cheek pads of modular motorcycle helmets should be lightweight, soft, easy to removable, and washable. You can check the adjustable flow through ventilation. The buckles of the helmet should be made of good quality plastic. When the chin bar is in the down position, the modular helmet provides the same level of protection as a full face helmet. However, it´s important to note that modular helmets are generally heavier and bulkier than full face helmets, and some models may not provide the same level of protection as a dedicated full face helmet.
