The Buoyancy Shorts were first developed by Zone3 back in 2007. As the original inventors of this product, Zone3 thought it was appropriate to call their 5:3mm thickness, smoothskin shorts ‘The Originals’. They have eight years of fantastic customer reviews behind them and have helped thousands of swimmers to improve both their body position in the water and swim technique.
The shorts are designed as an alternative to a pull buoy. They give a more natural feeling of buoyancy and allow swimmers to develop their swimming with extra core support. The latest version of these shorts offers a more comfort focused waistband and updated graphics.
‘The Originals’ are made from top quality smoothskin neoprene and are stitched and bonded just the same as a triathlon wetsuit. The shorts are designed using 3mm neoprene down the centre and 5mm neoprene down the sides. The 3mm provides the additional buoyancy whilst the 5mm side panels complement this by promoting hip rotation through each stroke.

The shorts serve three main purposes:
1. For novice or intermediate level swimmers the major factor which prevents them from swimming faster is the lack of core stability and leg kick. Their arm strength and technique are good but because they are not horizontal on the top of the water they create a lot of drag and ‘dead weight’ which makes it much harder to swim efficiently.
With the buoyancy shorts the swimmer can get more used to swimming in the correct horizontal and streamlined position, so they start to build a ‘neural pattern’ of how they should feel in the water. This also allows the swimmer to concentrate on making a more effective leg kick and better forward glide with each stroke, without that ‘sinking leg’ feeling.
With the extra buoyancy support, the swimmer can also focus more on the technique of their arm stroke, without the constant battle to keep the hips and legs in a high position in the water.
Results have shown that over time a swimmer’s body position, speed and endurance can be significantly increased by training with buoyancy shorts.
2. Suitable for any level of triathlete who wants to refine their open water swimming technique whilst in a pool. Swimming in a wetsuit during a triathlon is very different to swimming without a wetsuit during a swimming race. The majority of your power needs to derive from your upper body whereas your legs and core provide the essential control. These shorts help develop your open water swimming technique whilst in the pool, where wearing a full wetsuit would either be too hot or banned by the life-guards.

Bermuda shorts great for swimming. I use it both in the pool and in the sea. In addition to being a very beautiful product. Be careful when choosing the size. This is a review to acknowledge the way in which my previous complaint was handled. I had re-ordered a pair of Zone3 buoyancy having ,been very happy with the first pair. However the new ones arrived very creased and with some of the seams coming unglued. Maybe it was a bad batch of glue. Anyway I took photos and sent a note of complaint to SwimInn. I have to say their initial response wasn't exactly favourable. However when I sent through another message repeating my claims, their customer service department must have kicked in, because I was granted a full refund, for which I am very grateful, and wish to acknowledge that. The trunks somehow made it from Spain to Hawaii in just over two weeks. The product is exactly what I requested, and the fit was ideal. I'm 5'10" with a 31-inch waist, so I ordered a Medium. The fit is perfect. I'm eager to get into the water with them!

Have used these shorts for a few years before. They have been excellent in helping elevate my hips during lap swimming therefore I could concentrate on my stroke and body position in the water. They have now worn out. So Ordered a second pair. Yes I am happy with them. I only swim for Triathlon and open water swimming is always in a wet suit, so trying to overcome hip sink is a big deal for me.

i wanted to write a quick blurb about my experience with swiminn... i have no doubt the actual product is excellent.. but the purpose of this note is just to give peace of mind to those of us from canada, who might be considering buying from swiminn but unsure about the dynamics of buying from europe. it was a bit daunting having ,no experience with this website. i took a chance to save cad and buy these buoyancy shorts from swiminn. i ordered it on oct 1, 2019. it took a couple of days for any status update, but i appreciated being able to see a photograph of my package. the subsequent website with the tracking details would not load any details for several days, but it eventually started showing the packages progress.... the estimated delivery time was to be oct 8-11. package was delivered on oct 15 (we have a civic holiday on oct 14). so... bottom line.. the package was delivered and shorts received as expected to burlington, ontario canada (city that is 45 minutes west of toronto, canada). i would order again from swiminn! thank you!

I am delighted at the product of the 5/3 buoyancy shorts. To swim in them is great. They are comfortable and fit well. The buoyancy level is perfect and swimming in the ocean as I do gives me so assistance, I am 76 years of age and still an active ocean swimmer. This new device is great for me.
